A duo of reviewers fuel the Amazeballs Book Addicts website. Read on to know more about them!
What made you decide to start reviewing books?
Gia: I love reading and reviewing book just seemed like the next step in loving books.
Tabitha: I read so many books and always tried to review them and one day an indie author contacted me asking if I had a blog and would review a book for her. And that was all she wrote, I was hooked after that.
What is the best thing about being a top reviewer?
Gia: I’m so excited to be included as a top reviewer.
Tabitha: It's so exciting to be included as a top reviewer. There are some really awesome reviewers out there. So, to be included among them is awesome. Hopefully, it will bring more authors to our blog and we find some more new to us authors to read.
What is your worst experience in dealing with an author or publisher?
Gia: I haven’t had any bad experiences with authors or publishers.
Tabitha: Like Gia, I haven't had any bad experiences.
What is the most memorable book review or author interview you have ever done?
Gia: My most memorable author interview has to be the first author interview I did, Jay McLean. I was so nervous because she is one of my favorite authors. I accidentally asked the same question twice.
Tabitha: My most memorable review was for a book where the main character had MS because I have MS myself and I was so impressed with how accurate the author was.
What books are you currently reading now, and what is your favorite genre?
Gia: Right now I’m currently reading Reginald by Niquel. I read a bunch of different genres but my favorite is new adult and shifter books.
Tabitha: I'm currently reading So Wicked by Melissa Marino. She is a new author for me and I must say this series is really good. My absolute favorite genre is definitely Romantic Suspense but I love many other genres too.
How much time do you spend on reviewing a book, on average?
Gia: Wow, I’m not sure. I take notes while reading and after I finish reading I sit down with my notes and memories and just write. After the review is finished I let it sit for a bit then reread to make sure it makes sense.
Tabitha: Honestly, I'm not sure I have a set time. Some books it takes me a few days to really come up with how I want to write the review and other times I know exactly what I want to say as soon as I finish a book.
How do you deal with book requests?
Gia: I read the review requests and look for that one thing that grabs my attention.
Tabitha: I agree with exactly what Gia said. I read through the requests and if it grabs me in the description then I'm all for reading it.
Do you see yourself writing your own book? If yes, what would it be about?
Gia: No, I’ll just stick to reading and reviewing.
Tabitha: No thanks on the writing a book bandwagon for me. I am perfectly happy to read and review.
If you had to choose one book that reviewed to be turned into a movie, which one would it be? Why?
Gia: Oh wow, this one is a tough question. If a movie is based on a book I tend to like to watch the movie first then read the book after that way I don’t get disappointed watching the movie waiting for a part I thought was important but didn’t make the movie.
Tabitha: I have quite a few that I would love to see be made into a movie, but the one that pops into my head is a series and it would have to be The Steele Security Series (Wicked Games, Wicked Ties, Wicked Nights, Wicked Intentions, and Wicked Shadows) by AD Justice.
What is your ultimate favorite book of all time?
Gia: My ultimate favorite book would have to be a book from my childhood that I still remember and love, Milk and Cookies by Frank Asch.
Tabitha: Man this is a really hard question because I have read so many books that I love so much. No way I can say what my ultimate favorite book is. Again, I will say The Steele Security series by AD Justice is definitely up there at the top of my favorites and another of my favs would have to be The KGI series by Maya Banks
Have you ever received gifts to thank you for your review?
Gia: No, but I get super excited when an author likes my review on Goodreads or shares it on their page.
Tabitha: I have had some authors send me some stuff if they loved my review or if they want to donate stuff to the blog to giveaway.
How do authors react when you give their books a negative review?
Gia: I’m not sure if I have given a negative review. I try to find the positives in everything.
Tabitha: I am always honest in my reviews so if there is something I don't like, I will say what it was and why I didn't like it. I'm all for constructive criticism and not be mean.
Finally, tell us a little bit about yourself. How do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Gia: I’m a mom of four kids. I love to read and enjoy being a blogger. I know I lot of people use Google to find answers to their questions. I use Google to find books that I can read to find the answer to my questions. When not reading, you’ll find me cooking up fun recipes in the kitchen or walking in the woods. In five years, I still hope I enjoy reading and reviewing.
Tabitha: I am a homeschool mom of my 16 year old son and my daughter just 1st year of college. As I mentioned before I have MS. I was diagnosed in 2006. I love reading and am so glad to have a wonderful blog partner who keeps the blog up and running. I hope to still have my love for reading and continue to build our fantastic blog.
