Here's a bit of news for those of you who want a little more light reading to keep you company. A free newsletter of short stories produced by Penguin Random House and Crown Publishing will debut next week October 11. The newsletter, called Season of Stories, will deliver a series of tales during October 11 to December 30 to everyone on the mailing list.
The subject matter and authors for each selection of this 11-week newsletter offers plenty of variety. The newsletter itself will be written by a number of different bestselling authors partnered with Random House, promising plenty of interesting reading material beyond just the short stories. The official site promises "a piece of a story one day at a time until the full narrative wraps up just in time for the weekend." This fictional drip-feed promises to keep avid readers company all through the next few months and into the approaching winter holidays. If you find any stories you especially like, you'll even have the option to purchase the books they come from, as many of them will be excerpts of some kind. You can learn more about Season of Stories in this Publisher's Weekly article.
As our ongoing call for submissions for the BRYP anthology continues, we believe news like this will intrigue many of the aspiring writers who follow our blog. While we wait for more short story submissions, we encourage you to consider signing up for this newsletter. Whether it's for inspiration or just a diversion, having new free reading material is definitely a good thing!
